Tech 37 Mission
To leverage the knowledge of Chicago's premier technology corporations to engage high school students in new and emergent technologies and to introduce them to career paths in the field of technology.

Modeled after Maggie Daley's highly successful Gallery 37 arts initiative, Tech 37 is a prototype for the City of Chicago's technology afterschool program. Tech 37 is one of three programs that is supported by After School Matters and will take place in neighborhood clusters throughout the city.

A team of 20 high school youth will be chosen to participate in each cluster per semester. Each team will meet three days per week for three hours each day. Participants will earn a paycheck while learning about diverse technology fields such as software and hardware design, Internet development, networking, film production, and animation.

The actual programs that the students will participate in are designed and instructed by some of Chicago's premier technology corporations. Currently students are participating in a program entitled "Introduction to Internet Development" which was created by iXL, a leading Internet consulting firm based in Chicago.

In the future, technology corporations desiring to educate youth about their field of expertise can complete a "Request for Proposal" and submit their ideas to the City of Chicago.
