Founded
in 1986, Griskelis Young Harrell (GYH) is a fifteen-person creative
venture focused on providing high-value architectural, interior
and planning design services. Firm principals include: Ray Griskelis,
AIA, CEO; Laura Young, AIA, President; and Chad Harrell, AIA,
Vice President.
GYH asserts that the most creative and economic design value
for all clients is yielded through the broad practice of architecture.
Therefore, we strive to produce inspired designs in diverse
venues which range in scale from civic planning for brown-field
reclamation to the intimate experience of the human dwelling.
"Constants"
in GYH design include: a principal-guided, team-oriented design
process; the conviction that the built environment should
be gracious and empathetic to the human condition; a belief
that creativity is key to affordable and buildable architecture;
and a predisposition toward simple elegance in all design
solutions.
Given
current practical office restrictions, participation in The
Universal Access Architecture Competition occurred on a voluntary
basis and largely after office hours. Teammates continually
shifted roles between creators, critics and presenters. The
Team includes: Lorena Blanco, Hsin-Tzu Chen, Magda Kowalik-Gadek,
Christopher Nigro, Jason Neitzel, Carlos Parrilla, David Strong,
and Amy Wolkowitz. The "Principal Guide" is Chad
Harrell, AIA.
