Design Studio founded by Melinda Palmore & Darryl Crosby
in 1997 is an emerging architectural design firm with the mission
to produce work of the highest caliber with service centered
on the needs of the client. The majority of the firms' projects
are in urban settings and have solutions which always seek to
lift the human spirit. Many of the firms' clients are not-for
profit companies where the need to empower or enhance through
design within budget is a challenge. Recently their firm has
completed the design of the Field Museum's New Information Technology
(IT) Server Farm Offices, the preliminary design for the adaptive
re-use of an existing Industrial Garage for the new home of
The Renaissance Adult Day Services located in Chicago and the
Corporate Office Building for Featherfist, a not-for profit
organization focused on the homeless population.
The
firm has participated as finalist in East Chicago Indiana's
Washington H.S. Housing Competition and the CHA/NEA- Chicago's
Design Competition for Mixed-Income Housing. Melinda Palmore
and Darryl Crosby are part time faculty at Columbia College
Chicago in the Masters in Interior Architecture and Undergraduate
Interior Architecture Programs.
