About Chicago Artist Month
Chicago Artists Month 2007
Join us for the 12th annual celebration of Chicago’s dynamic visual arts community. Throughout October, you are invited to meet sculptors, photographers, ceramic and fiber artists, and more! Experience their work at exhibitions, workshops, lectures, tours, neighborhood art walks and other events at venues throughout Chicago. Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with 220 program partners, Chicago Artists Month aims to raise public awareness of Chicago-based visual artists by providing opportunities to meet them and see their work at locations throughout the city.
Meet the Artists.
Each year, Chicago Artists Month spotlights a group of Chicago-based artists who embody the range and diversity of the community - varying in age, background, neighborhood, media and level of recognition. All of these artists are associated with programs where you can meet them or see their work. They are recommended by the organizers of these programs, and represent just a handful of the many artists participating in Chicago Artists Month. See the “Featured Programs & Artists” section for information about the 2007 featured artists.
Creative Alliances.
This year’s theme, “Creative Alliances,” explores how artists work together, create community, and develop partnerships and collaborations as they realize their goals. As you explore these programs, you may discoer how varied these “creative alliances” can be, from artists’ collectives and studio groups to relationships with the community, business leaders, art professionals, and like-minded creatives.
Explore. Enjoy. Make a connection. Chicago’s artists welcome you.
