Green Building Resources
Chicagoans wishing to learn more about green building technologies and practices have several resources available to them.
The first is the Chicago Center for Green Technology (Chicago Green Tech), the first municipal building in the nation to receive a LEED™ Platinum rating, the highest rating for green design awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. Chicago Green Tech serves as both a national model of green building design and a resource for people wanting to learn more about sustainable technologies. Guided and self-guided tours of the facility are available six days a week, and free workshops on green building topics are offered weekly.
Chicago Green Tech also is home to the Green Building Resource Center, which offers green building reference materials, product samples and technical assistance to the general public. For more information about the Green Building Resource Center, call the Chicago Green Tech hotline at (312) 746-9642 or consult the Green Building Resource Center Flyer, attached as a PDF file below.
Dozens of websites provide useful green building information for building professionals and homeowners. The Department of Environment (DOE) has compiled a list of these sites in its Useful Links for Building Professionals and Useful Links for Homeowners.
Finally, DOE has a number of green building reference materials available in PDF format, below.
