State, Randolph and Van Buren ADA sidewalk work completed

Construction crews recently completed a project that improved the sidewalks along State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street, Randolph Street from Franklin Street to Garland Court and Van Buren from LaSalle Street to Michigan Avenue.

The work entailed the installation of sidewalk corners that meet the standards of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The new corners feature wheelchair-accessible ramps and detectible warning surfaces for the visually impaired. The project also included resurfacing the intersection of each cross street along State Street.

Throughout construction all sidewalks remained open to pedestrians and access to businesses was maintained.

The two intersections involved with the 108 N. State project, Washington and Randolph, were not part of this project.
