Teacher for a Day at the National Teacher's Academy

Fire Commissioner Raymond Orozco was "Teacher for a Day," at the National Teacher's Academy located at 55 w. Cermak on Tuesday May 6th. Fire Commissioner Orozco arrived at the school at the beginning of the school day. He met with Principal Ms. Amy G. Rome before he visited a seventh grade classroom. In the classroom, the Fire Commissioner talked to the students about what the Chicago Fire Department handles and what its like to be a firefighter and paramedic. He answered questions and participated in classroom activities. He also had one student try on the firefighting gear called "bunker gear. " He later visited a special needs classroom where he participated in a number of activities and learned about The Great Chicago Fire.
