Traffic Advisory for May 22 & May 23 2008
***TRAFFIC ADVISORY ****** WABASH ROADWAY CONVERSION FROM ONE WAY TO TWO WAY TRAFFIC*** WABASH FROM CHICAGO TO OHIO THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2008 Chicago - Expect a full closure of Wabash from Superior to Ohio for traffic conversion on Thursday. Also, the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge 3.5 Mile Run begins on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m., closing several streets in the Loop area. On Friday, May 23, evening, a Protest March will require street closures in the Downtown area. WABASH TRAFFIC CONVERSION Wabash Avenue from Chicago to Ontario will be switched to two-way traffic starting on Thursday, May 22. Prior to May 22, this three-block stretch has been one-way. The change is being made to better facilitate traffic flow in the area and will also further increase pedestrian safety. Crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday to change some of the signs and pavement markings and to installing traffic signals. STREET CLOSURES • Wabash from Superior to Ohio will be fully closed to traffic from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008. • Wabash from Chicago to Superior will be open to local traffic only. • East-west traffic on Superior, Huron, Erie, Ontario and Ohio will be maintained. • Traffic Control Aides will be on site to assist with the closure and pedestrian traffic. PARKING • Street parking will be restricted during this time. TRAFFIC CONTROL • Traffic Control Aides will be on posts for this event to assist with the movement of traffic and the safety of pedestrians and motorists. Traffic Control Aides are working for you! Assembly: 5:30 p.m. at the Dirksen Federal Plaza at 230 S. Dearborn.
