Streetscape Guidelines Overview

Streetscape Guidelines

Welcome to the Streetscape Guidelines HomePage. This guide demonstrates the City of Chicago’s many years of experience in designing and building streetscapes. It is intended to assist aldermen, communities, and developers in beautifying their commercial districts now and keeping them attractive well into the future. Click on each chapter/section to view the contents.

The Streetscape Guidelines have been placed on CDOT’s WebPage in Adobe format. If you are unable to view Adobe (PDF) documents, click at the bottom to obtain.

Clicking on each of the titles under the Guideline Links heading will take you to each of the major chapters within the Streetscape Guidelines. Within each Chapter you can use the bookmark feature to go to sub-sections for each chapter.

If your adobe reader is set to override default document setting, the bookmark feature can be activated by clicking on the Bookmarks tab on the left side of your browser. If the left menu is not visible, you can open it by clicking View, then Navigation Tabs, then Bookmarks in the top menu headings. If this doesn’t work, you may need to expand it by left-clicking and holding, then dragging your mouse to the right.

For additional Streetscaping information, contact Janet Attarian/Project Director at 312-744-5900
