Ramp from inbound Stevenson to Southbound Lake Shore Drive to Close this Weekend

South Lake Shore Drive and Stevenson Expressway (I-55) drivers should expect possible slowdowns in the vicinity of McCormick Place this weekend. Here's what they will find:

  • Beginning 10 p.m. this Friday (Oct. 18) through 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 21) the ramp from the inbound Stevenson to southbound Lake Shore Drive will be completely closed.

  • As a detour, inbound Stevenson traffic should take the northbound Lake Shore Drive ramp to 18th Street, where they will be directed onto southbound Lake Shore Drive.

  • As an alternate, inbound Stevenson drivers may exit the Stevenson at Martin Luther King Dr., head south to 31st Street, then east on 31st Street where they may enter southbound Lake Shore Drive.

  • The closure is necessary for the safe installation of a massive (7-foot diameter) storm sewer as part of the South Lake Shore Drive reconstruction project.
